Fall Updates

Hi everyone, hope you've had a wonderful summer!

There are lots of updates to the website this month, so only brief mentions of each update are listed below. Click on the page/heading links to go to our website for more information. Also, most of these events are on our Google Calendar, so if you have a Google account, add our calendar!


Volunteer/Outreach:

Engineering Week/Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day
Our chapter has teamed up with the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University for their STEM-related Engineering Week and Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day activities that are linked to their upcoming exhibit of Alexander Calder’s art (that combines engineering and art). We will be doing these events on 2/23 (Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day) and 3/18 & 5/20 (Nasher's Family Days).

Girl Scouts TechnoQuest 2011
TechnoQuest, the North Carolina Coastal Pines’ premiere science event for girls in grades 6-12, will be held at Meredith College on Saturday, November 5, from 10:00 am - 4:45 pm. This year they hope to be able to offer a whole range of new workshops and opportunities for the girls.

EPIC (Educational Program Innovations Center) Seminars (Continually updated)
Seminars available in the areas of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Industrial Engineering. Provides Professional Development Hours for licensed engineers. EPIC has also been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider of continuing education and training programs by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Local Employment:

Company: NCSU (temporary)
The position will evaluate, review and make recommendations regarding repairs and efficiency improvements on existing mechanical systems, will work with a team of architectural and engineering technicians to evaluate the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Candidate must be proficient in reviewing blueprints, schematics and project drawings to interpret data.
